What does it mean to be happy?

A person with a mental handicap doesn’t need trappings or material goods to be happy!

Because of his very weakness, he does not try to take refuge, as we do, in artificial distractions and happiness, but what he does need, more than anybody, is to permanently live his life straight from the heart in a climate of communion and affection which give him the security, joy, confidence and intuition that he can make of his life a present, which he can offer to others. He has a gift in awakening hearts and calling upon each and every person to give the very best of themselves. By doing so he makes an incalculable contribution to our common humanity : he makes us more human, if at least we accept to walk at his rhythm, see his interior beauty and welcome his gift.
