 Homepage | The person | The family | The friends | Sitemap | Search | Contact  News  Year 2005 Français | English | Español |  Print18-25 January : Christian Unity week "Christ, the one foundation of the Church" (1 Cor. 3, 1-23)  The week of prayer for Christian unity from 18-25 January, invites all the members of the Churches to prayer for an end to divisions between Christians. Each year the theme is prepared by an international and interdenominational committee drawn from both the Pontifical Council for promoting Christian Unity and the Commission on Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches. For the first time, in 2005, the official preparatory leaflet has been jointly prepared and published by these institutions. This year the medidations are proposed by the Churches of Slovakia. The reference text for this year's meditation is taken from Chapter 3 of the first letter of Paul to the Christians in the town of Corinth. By reminding us that the Christ is the one foundation of the Church, he invites us to rise above the quarrels that have contributed to it's division and to work together to do God's work.
