WYD 2005 : we need you! Faith and Light, l’Arche, the OCH and A Bras Ouverts invite you to join a group of young people who will be accompanying young persons with intellectual difficulties as well as taking part in the different practical tasks of a camp from 10 August in the morning to the evening of 21 or 22 August starting in Trier and moving on to Cologne. ![]() First stage of the group in Trier from 10 to 15 August A camp for the network of young people from l’Arche together with the Faith and Light communities, the aim of which is to: Discover the spirituality of l’Arche, Faith and Light and life in a community (in a large group) alongside people with intellectual disabilities from l’Arche, Faith and Light and the people accompanying them. Young people will participate in discussion groups or recreational workshops, help to prepare games, help with musical accompaniment, logistical organisation, the sound and lighting for the daily morning catechesis sessions for which we are responsible. All these things will give an atmosphere of a youth camp, low on home comforts but high on enjoyment and liveliness. Second stage of the group in Cologne from 15 to 22 August A camp for the network of young people from l’Arche. The young people will be providing services for the catechesis/bible study sessions organised by and with the participation of Faith and Light, A Bras Ouverts and the OCH. Camp participants will participate in the major WYD events in Cologne i.e. the inauguration and the closing ceremony, the afternoon activities proposed during the Youth Festival in Cologne, the pilgrimage following the footsteps of the Wise Men in the cathedral. The group will be responsible for the organisation of three morning catechesis/ bible study sessions with Jean Vanier, Mgr Paul James and Mgr Daucourt. These sessions will take place on the 17, 18 and 19 August and will be open to all pilgrims.![]() General Conditions Age : between 18-30 years old Physical and psychological conditions: good physical and mental health to be able to deal with the lack of home comforts, life in a large group and in crowds, ability to deal easily with the heat, the noise and walking long distances. Financial conditions: the forfeit is fixed at 350 Euro – this includes transport (return trip) from one of the main assembly points (Rennes, Nantes, Paris, Lyon, Strasbourg), the insurance, participation in the both stages in Trier and Cologne. Particular financial conditions can be studied on request. Reminder for persons with intellectual disabilities Only intellectually disabled persons from l’Arche and Faith and Light are admitted to the first stage, providing that: They fulfil the physical and psychological conditions required, despite their disability They are accompanied by at least one young person between the age of 18-30 who knows them well (ie has know them for at least a year), and is aware of the particularities of their disability That they have authorisation in the form of a medical certificate, to participate in this tiring experience.Any medical treatment must be up to date and must continue to be followed from the 10 August to 22 August. They must bring a full medical file with them N.B. The Arche WYD project has to be considered as a whole (i.e. both the Trier and Cologne stages). To be a part of the group, it’s obligatory to sign up for both of the stages proposed from the 10 to 22 August. WYD pilgrims will be dispersed across an area of 75 km, in the different towns that have been chosen for the catechesis sessions involved in the second stage, so it’s logistically impossible to imagine that someone can register with their diocese and then want to participate in the catechesis sessions organised by Faith and Light, l’Arche, the OCH and A Bras Ouverts in Cologne.Only those who have the privilege of having their accommodation in Cologne will be able to participate. However, as we said above, the three morning catechesis/ bible study sessions organised on 17, 18 and 19 August are open to everyone and all those pilgrims with or without a disability are welcome to join for one morning, or for all three mornings at the St. Engelbert church, Grembergerstrasse 34, Cologne. ![]() URGENT REGISTRATION! The final closing date for all registrations imposed by the German office is the 30 June 2005. Beyond this date the computer registration system will be blocked and we will no longer be able to have access to register pilgrims.
