- News - Year 2005 - The bishops at the Synod participate in a day with Faith and Light communities

This encounter gave our work a reason to be

While I was participating in the Bishops’ Synod on the Eucharist, I found in my locker an invitation to a Faith and Light meeting, arranged for Sunday, 9th October. As I did not know this movement, and being free that day, I decided to go to it. I found a large number of disabled young people accompanied by friends in a pleasant and joyful ambiance. I shared the meal. I admired the patience and courage of the parents, some of whose children took up all their time. The atmosphere was, to be sure, lively, but reflected a peaceful joy. At the end of the day, we celebrated the Eucharist. The Mass was a little noisy and disturbed, which was understandable. But a sign which does not deceive: the only moment of silence was at the consecration.. This meeting has, in some way, given substance to our week’s work. It has occupied me throughout the synod. It remains in my memory.
