The idea germinated before the Madrid meeting in July 2006. We were all together but had neither the opportunity nor the time to tell each other about the life of our country, its creation, its troubles and joys or its hopes. We all know how important it is to return to our roots, to the vision of the founders, Jean Vanier and Marie-Hélène Mathieu, to the sacred history of our country. It is a matter of keeping or rediscovering the enthusiasm of our youth, the sense of the specific mission of Faith and Light, a deepening of our faith, the energy to act… Today, more than 1495 communities are growing in 78 geographical countries (with the provinces, there are 92 ”Faith and Light countries” in total) in the five continents. Let us give thanks to the Lord for all the wonders, at the same time so great and so lowly, that Faith and Light has brought forth. So many lives transformed and hearts healed and soothed. Yes, let us give thanks for this quite small great thing that we have been entrusted with, that we are called upon to make grow and which we should testify to the whole world with enthusiasm and loyalty.
