Dear friends,

You already know the role of the Faith and Light International Association. Faced with the dismay and loneliness of families whose child is afflicted with an intellectual disability, its fundamental mission is to create small communities around them. Families meet with friends on a regular basis, especially young people. At least once a month and often more frequently, a meeting of friendship, sharing, prayer and celebration allows parents to come out of their solitude and to find hope in the abilities of their child, however disabled he/she is. Today, 1612 communities are growing in 81 countries, two thirds of which are in countries with huge financial problems.

Our needs, you can guess what they are. To create new communities and support those already in existence requires missionary visits, training sessions, teaching tools adapted to the various cultures and exchanges between leaders. To be effective in communities so widespread in so many countries, to keep the momentum and unity, we must be competent, a competency that is the fruit of long experience with disabled people and lots of contact with their families, friends and leaders.
Our means, remain, of course, what you have given us. Also, quite simply, we are calling upon your generosity once again. We know you are close to us and connected with the Faith and Light communities. With a lot of confidence, we are counting on you to help those close to the person or persons with a disability and who especially want to feel loved, recognised and useful.
