From the point of view of the (catholic) liturgy, it is not such an important feast. After all, it is “only” a Feast and not a Solemnity like the Epiphany or the Annunciation. It suits us and it is probably better that way. It helps us to remain poor, small, humble... It is appropriate – it seems to me - that we have taken this day to be the feast of Faith and Light. Or has it been given to us? I shall be celebrating “our” feast with the communities of Brussels. During the evening mass (6 PM Belgian time), we shall have a special prayer for the great F&L family, all around the world. On this day, let us rejoice and be thankful for the gift of F&L. Let us also pray that the light and the strength received may be shared with many more disabled persons, parents, and friends, especially mothers “whose soul has been pierced by a sword”.
