Week of prayer for Christian Unity 18-25 January

Theme : You shall love the Lord your God...and your neighbour as yourself. Luke 10: 27

Once again this year, we are invited to pray for Christian unity, and our prayer has never been more necessary than it is today. In fact, we are seeing that divisions and conflicts seem to prevail around the world.

Seeking unity and creating communion between individuals and cultures is an essential choice, especially for people who pray to the same God, our Father and the Father of all.

God's love is the strength that enables us to overcome divisions and create bonds of communion and respect between the different Christian denominations, in mutual listening and respect, in bearing witness to love of our neighbours.

Some Faith and Light communities belong to different Christian denominations, and some  members even belong to different faiths. For this reason they can become a sign of communion for the whole Church, a prophecy of peace and unity.

Grant us, Lord, to accept your invitation to unity. In our divided world, torn apart by wars and violence, make us a credible sign of your Fatherly love, that welcomes everyone and excludes no one.
